How Can I Recover My File In Three Simple Actions

It would happen to any of us who utilize a computer. With just a simple sequence of fairly harmless actions we are able to delete our important files from the computer. So what basic steps can I decide to try to recover my file ? If you follow these easy steps you can increase your chances of having the capacity to recover deleted files. Please read on to uncover the ways I used to recover my file in 3 easy steps.

Step one is to minimise the amount of new data you store on the drive in question. You really need to do this because the data will most likely still be on your disk. In simple terms, files are stored in varying sized chunks at different locations all over your disk. This allows for much more efficient use of the available storage space. When a file is ‘deleted’ the chunks of data are still on the disk but no longer protected from being overwritten. So the more files you save after you lose your file, the greater the chances of some of that data being overwritten. You will however, need to avoid leaving currently open files unsaved so create a temporary folder on a memory stick or drive and then save any open work to it.

Finish this step promptly, correctly and completely. This is critical. If it isn’t done correctly, for whatever reason, then you could end up losing even more files!

The second step is to check that you genuinely have erased the file. Sounds silly but quite often we end up saving the document someplace else by mistake or perhaps under a different name. The best way to do this is to fire up the application you had been using and check the recent files in the main menu (this is normally situated under ‘file’ in the top menu. If the file is there you can usually see the filepath by hovering over the relevant filename. It is really worth trying to open the document at this point just to make sure whether the file still exists at that location. If it does then your dilemma is solved.

The last step is to try to recover deleted files. This requires some special software that can find the chunks of data on the disk and string all of them back together again. The software I selected is quick to download and install and moderately easy to use. You can also download it for free and use it to find the deleted file before you pay anything. You then have to pay a license fee (one time) to recover the deleted files. This is very important since you do not have to pay anything if the file can not be recovered for any kind of reason. What is important to avoid is waiting for too long before you try to recover your file.

Just keep to the steps as specified and you should not have any problems copying how I managed to recover my file easily and rapidly as well. Just keep to the stages in order, for the reasons as explained, while carefully avoiding the traps, problems and potential mistakes mentioned. Then you will be able to trace the steps I used to recover my file and get your precious data back.
